Ways to reuse your wedding lehenga
For every bride, the wedding day attire is a dreamy affair. She chooses it with care, caution, affection and a lot of starry day dreams later she makes the choice. On the D-Day as she looks at herself, decked up to dazzle – daddy’s princess, mumma's doll adorned with handpicked embellishments takes makes her way to her happy ever after!
Alas, most often the wedding lehenga is forgotten somewhere, carefully folded and packed away amongst other articles of rare use!
We, at Shaadilogy, took it upon ourselves to turn this around for you! We’ve racked up ideas so you can turn your prized possession into something that is used more often and each time you put that on, you’re sure to rekindle fond memories from the occasion with your loved ones!
Reduce the volume: You can remove a few kalis or entirely eliminate the can-can from underneath. Removing this excessive volume makes the lehenga more wearable for a relatively casual event.
Bequeath to children: Your lehenga – however heavy or light, is surely a prized item and can make its mark as a legacy in the family. If you’re looking to pass this on as it is to your children for them to carry the lineage forward, be sure to pull it out of those packing boxes every now and then to give it some fresh air and sunshine!
Stitch it up: You could also stitch up the lehenga and the choli to style it differently. Visit an expert designer/ stylist who is known for their upcycling twists (yes, it is indeed a skill to upcycle such outfits!) You can make it into a gown or an Anarkali to be suitably worn for a family function and be sure to attract eyeballs all over again!
Role Play: If you’re looking to have some fun for the joy of it, you could also decide to deck up and role play to bring back memories of the most important day of your life. Ideally, if your husband would play along it’d be great but if not, you can call your girl gang over just to have some fun!
Photoshoots: A common story from every wedding is that the bride and the groom did not get enough pictures together covering all the poses, stories and angles they’d rather like because the guests took center stage! You can rewrite that for yourself. Deck up, dress up and enjoy a photoshoot exclusively for yourself with your partner in tow!
Team it with a different top: You can play with the elements of the lehenga individually too. Pairing the lehenga with a different top is a sure shot technique! Satin shirts, silk styled bodice designs, carefully crafted corsets are most certain to do the trick!
Dupatta: The dupatta is a remarkable element from your wedding attire. You can use this in various ways. While it is common for some families to pull out this dupatta for pujas and rituals within the first year of the wedding, you can always adorn it for an outing, teamed well with a semi-heavy suit to play it down but yet jazz it up!
You chose it with care, you bought it with dreams dazzling before your eyes, you wore it with charm – bring those moments back each time you pull out your wedding lehenga set and spin a magical trick!
